LIBBY MARX, MA, LMFT
Libby is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in practice for 12 years, with a background in Social Work counseling families and children since 2002. She enjoys working with adults, adolescents, and children, and has specialized training in the areas of trauma, early attachment, integrative medicine for mental health, and LGBTQIA issues.
Libby provides a calm and comfortable nonjudgemental therapy experience where exploring what her clients are experiencing now comes first. She believes there is always a reason for the emotions we experience and the behaviors that result, and that reason makes sense whether we understand it or not. Whether clients are struggling with depressed mood, anxiety, anger, or other symptoms of trauma, Libby is able to partner with them on the journey toward understanding and healing.
Together with her clients, she explores the many parts of the “self” that impact present pain and/or confusion, using tools for reaching deep trauma such as EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Trauma-Sensitive Yoga, Yoga Calm for Children, and exploring whole body health including self-care such as exercise, sleep and nutrition.
In therapy with Libby, you can expect to be encouraged to come as you are, to maybe laugh even a little, and to be shown you are enough, right now. She approaches her work with a firm connection to the belief that healing, learning, and relief are all possible.
When not working she enjoys spending time at home in Minneapolis with her husband, children, and friends, especially outside.
